Momentum is a scheme for young writers aged 16 – 26 to work with a mentor and develop their writing skills. The groups give the writers an opportunity to share their work and give and receive constructive criticism from their peers. Many participants from the Momentum groups have gone on to have their work produced as rehearsed readings or full scale productions by TWP.
This year, Theatre Writing Partnership are hosting Mini Momentum, a two day event of workshops, readings and performance. The event begins on Friday 12 September with the first round of pitching a play to be in with a chance of a writer winning a bursary to help them develop an idea for a play. The event continues on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14, with readings of the eight selected plays from this years participants in Momentum Writers Groups. Mini Momentum will conclude on Sunday evening with a presentation of a prize to the winner of the £1000 bursary. We will post the programme as soon as it has been finalised.
There are currently Momentum groups running in Northampton, Nottingham, Leicester and across Lincolnshire. If you are interested in joining a Momentum group, please contact Fintan O’Higgins on 0115 947 4361.
